Bald Eagle Spotted in Clayton at Portofino

Bald Eagle Spotted in Clayton at Portofino.

Bald Eagle at Portofino in Clayton

These incredible pictures taken this morning May 3rd at the fishing pond at Portofino in Clayton. The pictures were taken by Norwood and Sandra Thompson the developer of Portofino and his wife, who live in the Red Roof Inn just in front of the pond.

There was a female Bald Eagle here first and then she left and this guy swooped in. The fishing pond at Portofino is full of fish and every kid in the neighborhood has caught something. looks like they might have some competition in the future. Something tells me this guy will not be adhering to the catch and release rule!!!

It just goes to show what can happen when a developer wants to preserve the natural landscape of an area by not clear cutting and leaving trees to provide homes for these guys. Portofino in Clayton is an Audubon Signature Program Community and as such we take care to disturb as little as possible. We irrigate from the same pond, plant drought resistant plants.

We have seen and heard all kinds of animals at Portofino, but this takes the biscuit, or fish.
