So Coldwell Banker HPW my brokerage company for the last number of years had a big meeting of all their agents yesterday in Raleigh to announce some major changes they were making in the company and the future direction with new technologies etc.
There was something about they way this meeting was promoted I felt they had to be doing something big but never did anyone think of this!!
Don Walston the founder of the company (and resident comedian) has always, been a visionary, always staying ahead of the pack, a true believer in technology and where it is taking the real estate business.
I’ll be honest, I was afraid with all the excitement leading up to this meeting “The Event” and I mean we’re talking every day we were getting a notice with quotes like “life changing” “what’s on the horizon” and the secrecy surrounding’The Event’ that it might not live up to all the hype. I was wrong!
The company has certainly embraced the new technologies of the day and is firmly committed to Social Media and the role it plays in today’s real estate world. Coldwell Banker HPW has hired a new technology information person who is co-ordinating and driving the change and as he and Don spoke it became apparent that this was going somewhere big.
So how do you calm 650 restive real estate agents after getting them all hot and sweaty.........announce that everyone is getting a new iPod 2 today, and they open the doors and across the hall is The Apple Store ( well almost) 650 brand new iPad 2’s waiting to be handed out, sign a quick waiver that says you wont look at anything naughty and give it back if you leave the company, Verizon folks were also lined up to sign you up for their 3G plan, I’ll be looking into that. It felt like I was on the Oprah Birthday Show, you know where everyone gets her favourite thing, well this is my favourite thing, it is AMAZING!!
My family welcomed me to the Apple fold as they all have an Apple something, and now we can Face-Time...Very cool.
