The Tale of Two Breads.......
Simple right? Make some bread.... how hard could that be?
Having spent a lot of years in the restaurant business it was always a NOGO area when it came to yeast bread or anything that needed to rise, rest, rise, fold, laydown, massage, it was always easier to buy it from the experts.I always wanted to learn the art, but never had the time.
Then I came upon this easy, easy recipe, and not in a cook book, not even in a book, in a magazine...about home farms, etc.

The bread on the left has 4 ingredients. Flour, Water, Yeast, Salt.
The bread on the right has 18 ingredients, some of which I have never heard of!
here we go.
Water, Sugar (Hu!) Wheat Gluten, Soybean and /or Canola Oil, Yeast, Wheat Bran, Salt, Enrichment (Calcium Sulfate, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D3). Mono-and Diglycerides, Calcium Propionate (Preservative), Datem, Ethoxylated Mono- And Diglycerides, Grain Vinegar, Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid, sodium Stearoyl, Lactylate, Azodicarbonamide R10-155.
The bread on the left cost about $0.25 the one on the right about $2.00
The bread on the right will last about four weeks...the one on the left ….about three days it's normaly eaten by then! The bread on the left took about 30 minutes to make and 30 mins to bake, the smell of it baking …..no charge! The bread on the left tastes great, it is heaven dipped in olive oil with some herbs, toasted in the morning, lovely.
The bread on the right tastes of …..nothing!
