Clayton has many options to choose from when it comes to homes for sale. The Greater Clayton Area is what you need to look at when researching homes for sale in Clayton as there are many subdivisions outside the Clayton City limits, but have Clayton mailing addresses.
Prices range from below $100,000 for a smaller ranch to $700,000 for a golf course mansion. There are new homes for sale in a number of communities in and around Clayton and again there are a number of choices from starter homes to executive custom built homes, small lots, large lots, wooded lots, golf course lots, equestrian lots, river-front,gated communities.
There are a number of swimming pool communities with homes for sale in Clayton, some elaborate with lazy rivers and big slides, diving boards and separate pools for the kiddies and lap swimming. Some communities in Clayton have zero entry salt water pools (mine) some offer snack shops with beer and wine, while others offer indoor pools as well as outdoor.
The Town of Clayton, NC offers many many wonderful services and community projects for the enjoyment of the towns people and also for the many people who live in the surrounding Johnston County. The new Clayton Community Center and the new Clayton Civic Center, plus the town is working on ball-fields, parks, miles of river-walk trails, the first dog-park in Johnston County.
When looking for homes for sale in Clayton, schools are very important obviously for families with school age children but also need to be considered from a re-sale point of view. The schools in the Clayton area regularly get top marks, but not all, so it is worth researching. The other option available and this is not for everyone is to buy land and build a house yourself on it or contract with a local builder. The majority of land around Clayton is agricultural and runs the gamut from small tracts of land to hundred acre farms. The land in this area is considerably less expensive than say in the Raleigh Wake County area, much of which is already developed.
There are pros and cons to consider, not least of which is what will happen to the land around your land, a factor rarely of consideration in a planned community, not always but mostly due to restrictive covenants and bylaws etc.
