Relocating to North Carolina
Seems to be a trend these days, just in the last couple of weeks I have met with people from Montana, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Ohio, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
They are either being relocated with their jobs or have asked to be relocated. They are getting ready to retire and are attracted by the weather. They are following their children who moved here for work or went to college here and never left.
The majority are being relocated for work which is a great sign for North Carolina as job growth is what it is all about. Here in the Greater Raleigh Area we are fortunate to have Research Triangle Park nearby, home to hundreds of companies and thousands of workers. Raleigh and The Triangle as it’s called, has wonderful schools and colleges which employers need to provide the highly trained workers they need in their respective fields.
There is a broad range of industries in the Raleigh area, from the high tech companies like Lenovo, IBM, SAS to large pharmaceuticals like Glaxo, Merck, and biotechnology firms like Grifols, Novo Nordisk. There are manufacturing and assembly plants like Caterpillar in Clayton who just announced they are expanding their workforce by 200 this year.
Some of the people I spoke with recently are pleasantly surprised when they see what you get for the money down here in North Carolina. Housing is much less expensive than say Boston or Philadelphia, plus you get more standard features included for the price. Here in Clayton we are fast becoming known as the place to get a custom built home on a larger lot than most anywhere.
Are you moving to North Carolina? Are you moving to Raleigh to work at Research Triangle
Park? Are you relocating to the area for the weather ? Golf?
