Johnston County North Carolina Real Estate Market Update for June has some interesting numbers. Obviously sales were down from the previous year. Closed sales were 187 in 2009 versus 216 in 2009. For the year to date the figures were 908 in 2009 versus 1288 in 2008.
New listings in 2009 were 431 in June 2009 down from 496 in June 2008. For the year to date the numbers were 2,262 in 2009 versus 2,874 in 2008.

The median sales price in 2009 dropped from $165,450 to $155,000 a drop of 6.3% while the average sales price went from $189,532 to $166,677 a drop of 12.1%

The average days on market and here is the good news... 104 days in 2009 versus 115 in 2008, and percent of original list price received at sale was 97.7% in 2009 versus 98.3% in 2008. The number of homes on the market was another good sign 1,895 in 2009 versus 2,256 in 2008.
