North Carolina Bans Texting while Driving, Realtors Exempt... no we're not! Come on don't be silly!
I tell you what though this is a good law. I stopped texting and reading e-mails a while ago, I gave up smoking after all, I can drive for a while without looking at that thing vibrating next to my leg.
Is that a showing on a listing? Is that an inquire from someone reading my blog? Is that an email from the AA telling me my check is here? Yeah it's easy to just ignore it till you get home.
Actually I have been known to read them when at a red light, but I'm done with that too, I mean we're reading when driving!!!
Have you ever seen somebody reading a book or a newspaper while cruising down the highway and thought what an idiot!
Yeah I'm ready for this one, too many accidents with people drifting off the road, over correcting and veering across the center line.
My first car didn't have a radio, I just got my first car with a CD player!
I'll wait.

I dont think my car will operate without be being on the phone, ;-)
David - As long as I don't have to give up watching my TV that plugs into a cigarette lighter while driving, I'm fine!
David, I agree that this is a good law. I just re-blogged a post which had a very powerful video of the dangers of texting while driving: TEXTING AND DRIVING: EXTREMELY BADDDDD combination! Here is the video which shows the DANGER all TOO WELL!!! If it saves ONE life, it is worth viewing. It is worth watching, but quite graphic.
Andrew, baby steps, don't try and do it all at once. maybe try driving with one eye closed for a while.
Hi Nevin, my TV is in the back seat so it's harder for me, I can't wait to get a Garmin.
Gary, I'm going to wait to watch that one.
David, I think this is an excellent law & extremely neccesary. I live in a College town so you can imagine why this is such a concern for me. My children & I were sitting at a red light a few weeks ago & watched as a man on his cell phone, ran a red light & slammed into a car crossing the intersection. Paramedics had to take her out of the car on a stretcher. I hope she is okay. And as for the driver responsible, I'm sure he felt horrible & learned a valuable lesson. Just talking on your phone is distracting & texting while driving is just dangerous.
I've been in the car with a guy that had his blackberry on a velcro piece on the steering wheel.
Kristen, it is a real problem with young people, we have had bad accidents here too.
Alexandria, I would have got out of that car!
Excellent David, I started weening myself from the crackberry while driving about a month ago, it can wait. I rarely see someone behind the wheel without a cell attached their ear, scary when you think about it...
Gerry, I guess I'm getting old but lately it seems if I take my eye off the road for a second I'm in the ditch!!!
It's not worth it.
Having three kids in the car is the worst distraction I want to deal with. I'm still in the ice age and have managed to resist getting a blackberry!
Penny no Blackberry..what a Palm, an Iphone, please tell me it's something you can read stuff on and not just talk into it!
