Here in North Carolina it is very common to see a lot of ponds as you drive around, especially here in Johnston County.

People love to fish and there are plenty of places to do that with rivers, county lakes, but some folks who have the land get a big old pond put in and fish whenever they want.Hudson's, Clayton,NC

There is a pond a couple of miles from me and the owner supposedly let anyone fish there so long as you asked so I called him up and he had just stocked it with Stripped Bass and wasn't letting anyone fish until they got big. That was two years ago! I noticed someone fishing there today.

So today I headed off to see what was going on at the Hudson's in Clayton. There arrived a truck from Arkansas Pondstockers Inc. with about ten compartments with different types of fish. He had Grass Carp, Fathead Minnows, Hybrid Bluegill (they can't reproduce, must get fat!), Coppernose Bluegill, Large mouth Bass and he had a White Carp that is meant to be good eating.

You can fish the whole year round here in North Carolina, the ponds never freeze over, nowadays you could probably watch Michigan play football on your phone while you fish out on your pond.....if you lived in Clayton, North Carolina that is!!
