Building a Custom Home in Portofino in Clayton... A Diary, Week Three
Whew these guys are moving fast, we have been blessed with good weather here in Clayton, North Carolina, and so as the saying goes "make hay while the sun shines!" It has been dry and warm but we’re not out of the woods weather wise yet.

At week three which was February 7 Th, the walls to the basement are set and waterproofed and the dirt pushed back.
The next phase is to fill the garage floor with gravel, set the re-bar and pour the concrete.
In the floor of the walk out basement the various plumbing pipes are installed and the whole floor is criscrossed with re-bar. The re-bar in the previous post that was bent over is now attached to strengthen the entire structure. There is a lot of concrete going into this house and whoever the lucky owner is going to be, they can be sure they are getting a really sound home.

As the concrete is poured, the team of installers again working in unison begin to even out and place the re-bar in the center of the concrete, repeating the process as they move to each section, they begin smoothing out the sides first.
It is a multi stage process that requires many tools and can't be rushed, the end result proves it.
Steve Corker with Corker Enterprises has built this home in other communities around The Triangle, but he is here every day watching over every detail to ensure whoever buys this home will have a home they will treasure.
