Raleigh was chose for this lofty honor because of it’s many gains and qualities, most notably it has had the second highest population increase and the third highest job growth in the last two decades. The article went on to say that the area is attracting technology companies looking for lower cost alternatives to the expensive northeast corridor. One other reason technology companies come to Raleigh and the Triangle is the large number of highly skilled and trained workforce, where the percentage with college degrees is high.
The author Joel Kotkin writes “Affordable housing and short commute times are no doubt highly attractive to recent college graduates and millennials looking to start families.”
