The Duke Children's Hospital 'Jump for the Children' Benefit Horse show is going on this weekend at the Gov.James B.Hunt Jr. Horse Complex at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The show runs from Wednesday through Saturday and culminates in tonights $30,000 Grand Prix at 7.30 PM.
The show has been held every year since 1984 and has raised an amazing $1.6 Million for the very worthy cause of the Duke Children's Hospital in Durham. It is a great way to get up close and personal with loads of horses and ponies as there are lots of classes and competitors from all over.
Stroll the stalls, watch them in the practice arenas and all free, except for the Grand Prix on Saturday where the tickets are a mere $10 for seats, under 10 are free. I love showjumping and finally ( lots of hunter/jumper shows) when I was at the Horse Complex yesterday I got to see some real jumpers going over big fences! There is a silent auction with lots of horsey and non horsey items to bid on.
